I learnt a lot about ancient battles (which are similar to Medieval ones) by watching this TV series: I found this tactics tutorial helpful for learning tactics - especially when I applied them in Total War games, and thus learnt what they meant in practice: I recommend Sun Tzu''s 'The Art of War' on strategy - I found this documentary a useful introduction to it, especially because it applies Sun Tzu's teachings to real life examples of war:
if nobody wants to help me or says just play it more I'll understand, but I seriously am happy to take any advice people can give to help me stop using rome tactics on a entirely different game. no Strong units capable of standing Toe to Toe with heavy Christian Units. the Byzantines seem unable to stand toe to toe with the Enemies in the East and the West is too far to reinforce, the Holy roman Empire have bad Cav which makes it hard for me to use my Cav in the Rear charge without costing huge amounts of money. My problem is tactics, Here's 3 factions I want to play: the Byzantine Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Moor's all of which are unique and different yet theirs one major problem.
